So I decided to organize the Tonewood stash. I've kept a spreadsheet fort the last 8 years. So when I went to organize the back and side sets, how is it I come up with 30 backs and 18 sides that are missing their corresponding sets. It's not like a washing machine where socks go missing every time you use it lol

As I get older it’s shocking to me how quickly I forget certain details. I label all my sets and have a spreadsheet of inventory, just like you. However, if the notes are not overly verbose, I can’t even remember what I meant by them. Not just notes from years ago, but months ago!

I'm dreading this myself. I have a spreadsheet with all my back and side sets listed but the backs and sides are in different stacks. I moved and my shop has been in storage for a couple years. I'm terrified that I will have not marked things well enough (I wasn't expecting this to take years) and I will not be able to match everything back up.

I just use bins. Each back is kept in the same bin as the sides. Underbed storage boxes are perfect for this…

David, are you sure some of those missing sides and backs aren’t in the stash of wood you generously sent me?

Chris: Just call me the wood masochist.

Brad: I keep track of everything down to peg heads, bridges and head caps. I take really good notes and label. I dunno know what happened I swear I didn't do anything

Bryan: that sounds rough.

Meddling: great idea but I have 400 sets of Ukulele and 125 Guitar Sets its getting crazy in here lol

Craig: Now you're messing with me lol I'm like did I send him anything?

Haha! My mind is leaving me. It was Brad that sent me some when he was cleaning shop

I have a really good memory and I periodically go through my wood around 80 sets...so it's all in my head and if I forget about a set or two it's a nice surprise when I find it!

Most of my sets are labelled but I definitely have more than a few boards that I always thought I would remember what type of wood they were. That's not working out for me in a few cases. :) Some beautiful wood in some cases. Maybe once I resaw I'll remember.
